ART PSYCHOTHERAPY PRACTICE

Art therapy can help with emotional, behavioural and relational patterns that may be difficult to verbalise or hold in thought. Many psychological issues are multi-layered, and we often learn to skilfully avoid core feelings. The arts can help you identify, connect-to and experience your emotions on a deep non-verbal level.

‘Art can permeate the very deepest part of us, where no words exist’ Eileen Miller

I provide a confidential space with emotional warmth, acceptance and respect. We will co-create gentle ways, with the arts, to explore and communicate your internal experiences, alongside talking and meaning making. It always remains your personal journey, and you will set the pace – any opportunities for change will be your choice to pursue.

DO I NEED TO BE GOOD AT ART?

No artistic skill is required. I will offer the arts in a supportive way, working with you to find non-verbal expression that is containing and supportive.

‘The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance’ Aristotle

INTEGRATED PSYCHOTHERAPY

I work integrating many models of psychotherapy theory which provides flexibility to grow and adapt the therapeutic work as the journey unfolds – this enables us to tailor the therapeutic process to meet your individual needs.

THERAPY SERVICES

I work therapeutically with adults, young people and children on an individual basis; offering both short-term or long-term sessions, weekly, fortnightly, monthly or ad hoc, according to your needs.

In addition to this I offer parental consultations as one-off sessions.

FINDING A THERAPIST

There are many different life events and/or relational or behavioural experiences which bring people into therapy, and it can be a daunting process finding the right therapist. I recommend meeting with a few therapists to find the right 'fit' for you. I encourage you to contact maybe three therapists and follow your gut instinct as to who feels like the right therapist for you.

AN INITIAL CONVERSATION

I usually meet with clients, or parents of clients, for an initial chat on Zoom before booking a first session – in the case of separated parents, both parents will be invited for an individual initial chat.

CONFIDENTIALITY

All sessions are confidential, unless, under rare circumstances, I have a concern about someone’s safety. In such situations, as far as is reasonably possible I will attempt to speak with you first – usually this is a transparent conversation in a session when the safety concern emerges.

WORKING TOGETHER AGREEMENT AND PARENTAL CONSENT

Once we have decided to work together, I will send you a copy of my Working Together Agreement document. Please note, any child client with separated parents will require signed permission from both parents.

SESSION PLANNING

Sessions are 50 minutes, and can be held weekly, fortnightly, monthly or ad hoc, according to your needs. My fee is £110 per session; some concessions are available and are circumstance dependant.

AVAILABILITY

My availability changes weekly so it is best to ask for my current availability when you are ready to book a session. When I am fully booked, I am happy to recommend other practitioners.
